MATBUS Announces the Beginning of the
8-Week Commuter Challenge
FARGO, ND (August 31, 2012) – On Tuesday, September 4, MATBUS will kick off its eight-week Commuter Challenge “Give your Car a Rest on Tuesdays” which runs through October 30. The Commuter Challenge is meant to encourage area residents to use eco-friendly transportation at least once a week, such as riding MATBUS, walking, biking or carpooling, instead of driving their own vehicles.
Residents can sign up for the challenge by visiting www.matbus.com, where they can enter their information and pledge to use eco-friendly transportation at least once a week. Participants will receive a free MATBUS water bottle just for signing up (while supplies last).
Those competing in the challenge will be eligible to win weekly prizes valued at $250. In order to be eligible for the weekly prizes, challengers will need to go online to www.matbus.com each week and update their status on their eco-friendly transportation choice. If they complete all eight weeks of the Challenge, they will be eligible to win the grand prize, a new iPad.
The Challenge will kick off with live ‘Commuter Chat’ radio events on Tuesday with Fargo City Commissioners Melissa Sobolik & Mike Williams, in addition to Moorhead City Council Member Brenda Elmer. Future radio events will feature interviews with MATBUS passengers, bicycling enthusiasts, university students and administrators, social service providers and members of the business community.
