Memorial Day – No MATBUS Service May 25, 2015

On Monday May 26, due to the Memorial Day Holiday, there will be no bus service and the GTC will be closed.

Buses will resume service on Tuesday, May 26, 2015.

Attention Route 2 Riders

The second bus on Route 2 in the afternoon from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm, Monday – Friday, operates only during the MSUM academic year. Therefore, the second bus, which leaves the GTC at :00 and :30, will end on Friday May 15th at 6:30 pm and start back up on Monday, August 17th, 2015.

MATBUS Downtown Circulator Route

The City of Fargo and City of Moorhead are planning the addition of a MATBUS Downtown Circulator Route to become effective June 1, 2015, generally described below.  The route being proposed would allow improved access between the downtowns of Fargo and Moorhead with a Park and Ride agreement at the Moorhead Center Mall.  A map of the proposed new route is on display at the Ground Transportation Center (GTC), 502 N.P. Avenue, Fargo, North Dakota.

Public Hearings:  Public hearings will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, to afford opportunities for interested persons to be heard with respect to the proposed new route as follows:

Downtown Circulator:  As proposed, the route will operate from 7 AM to 7 PM Monday through Friday and 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday and will have a frequency of 15 minutes or less.  The route will be free, with no fare charged.  Transfers will not be issued between the Circulator and other MATBUS routes.  The route will travel outbound from the GTC and head east on NP Ave, continuing into Moorhead onto Center Ave.  The route will then turn north on 3rd St N, east on Center Mall Avenue, south on 7th St S., west on Center Avenue, north on 3rd St N, and west on 1st Ave N.  The route will then continue west into Fargo on 1st Ave North, south on 8th St N, then east onto NP Ave, ending at the GTC.  There will be ten bus stops along the route:   In Fargo, the GTC, Family Health Center, City Hall, Gate City Bank, Plains Art Museum, and NDSU Renaissance Hall.  In Moorhead, the northwest entrance to the Center Mall, the northeast parking lot of the Center Mall (in the Park and Ride area), the southeast entrance to the Center Mall, and the Heritage-Hjemkomst Interpretive Center.  The route will only stop at the Park and Ride area until the Center Mall opens at 10 a.m.

MATBUS Detours for Fargo Marathon

Attention Fargo Riders
Saturday, May 9, 2015

MATBUS is providing transportation to the general public attending the Fargo Marathon on Saturday, May 9, 2015. MATBUS will offer shuttle services from its West Acres Hub (Roger Maris Wing) from 5:00a until 7:00a on Saturday. These free shuttles will operate solely between West Acres and the Fargodome, with no stops between those two locations.

Regular MATBUS fixed route services will be offered free to any member of the public during the entire day (7:15a to 11:15p). This fare-free day does not apply to MAT Paratransit services.

The following routes will be detoured during the following times. Due to these closures, the associated detours will be in effect for the times listed. If you have any questions, please visit matbus.com or call 701.232.7500.

Route 1

Will NOT run from 8:00 am until approximately 12:30p.

Route 2

Will run every half hour from 8:00 am until approximately 12:30p. There may be some temporary delays near MSUM’s campus.

Route 4

Will take Center Avenue to the GTC from 8:00 am until approximately 12:30p. (There will be no service to Park View Terrace during this time)

Route 11

Due to the Fargo Marathon events and corresponding road closures, this route will be subject to varying detours throughout the day. Unfortunately, exact road closures will be determined as the race progresses. Please expect delays that are beyond the control of MATBUS & plan accordingly. Route 13

Route 13 will cross several road closures during different times. The following closures will result in the associated detours for the related times.

Broadway between 1st Ave N and 4th Ave N (8:00a to 2:30p):

  • Route 13 outbound will turn west on 1st Ave N, north on Roberts St and west on 2nd St N and back on route.

19th Ave N between 18th St N and University Dr (7:00a-8:00a):

  • Route 13 inbound will take 25th Ave N, turn west to Broadway, south to 12th Ave N, back to University Dr and back on route.

University Dr between 19th Ave N to 12th Ave N (7:00a – 3:00p):

  • Route 13 outbound will take 10th St N to 12th Ave N, turn west to 18th St N, north to 19th Ave N, back to 10th St N and back on route.
  • Route 13 inbound will take University Dr to 19th Ave N; west to 18th St N, south to 12th Ave N, east to University Dr and back on route.

Route 14

Due to the Fargo Marathon events and corresponding road closures, this route will be subject to varying detours throughout the day. Unfortunately, exact road closures will be determined as the race progresses. Please expect delays that are beyond the control of MATBUS & plan accordingly. Moorhead Detours for Fargo Marathon

Due to the Fargo Marathon Events (May 9)Moorhead bus routes will be detoured during certain times of the race: 

Saturday, May 9 (Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10K)

Route 1  Will not run from 8:00 am until approximately 12:30 pm.

Route 2  Will run every half hour from 8:00 am until approximately 12:30 pm. There may be some temporary delays near MSUM’s campus.

Route 4  Will take Center Avenue to the GTC from 8:00 am until approximately 12:30 pm. (There will be no service to Park View Terrace during this time)

Expect delays and please plan accordingly.

Proposed Route 5 Expansion

OPEN HOUSE & PUBLIC HEARING
Route 5 Expansion and Changes to Saturday Timetables for Routes 1, 2, 3 & 5

MATBUS is proposing route changes to become effective July 1, 2015, as follows:

Route 5 Expansion

  • Expansion of bus route further south in Moorhead
  • Village Green Loop eliminated
  • New stops at Grand Inn/Essentia Health Clinic
  • Route will pass near Reinertsen Elementary and the new Hornbacher’s Shopping Complex on 40th Ave S.

Saturday Timetables for Routes 1, 2, 3 & 5

  • One bus will travel on Routes 1 & 3 interlining at the Marriott shelter (consistent with weekday service)
  • One bus will travel on Routes 2 & 5 interlining at the Marriott shelter (consistent with weekday service)
  • Route 1 will begin its route at 7:15 AM from the Ground Transportation Center (GTC)
  • Route 3 will begin its route at 7:30 AM from the Marriott shelter
  • Route 5 will begin its route at 7:20 AM from the Days Inn
  • Route 2 will begin its route at 7:30 AM from the Marriott shelter

More detailed information including proposed maps and timetables can be found at the GTC or online at www.cityofmoorhead.com or www.matbus.com. An open house will be held at the GTC on Thursday May 7, 2015 from 5 to 6 PM for the public to review and comment on the proposals. A public hearing will be held at the Moorhead City Council on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 5:45 PM for the Council to hear and take public comments.

FREE MATBUS & MAT Paratransit Rides to the City of Fargo’s Special Election

MATBUS is offering FREE rides to vote in Tuesday’s City of Fargo Special Election. Just tell your MATBUS fixed route driver (or your MAT Paratransit reservationist) that you are going to vote in the Special Election and you’ll ride for free.

The following Vote Centers available for this Election Day will be open from 7:00a to 8:00p.
